Bathroom Design Trends For Spring 2016

Spring is almost here! Every season new bathroom trends emerge and while it’s not necessary to adhere to all these trends, they can be a source of inspiration for your next remodeling project.

Today bathrooms have taken on a greater role in home design. What once was considered a functional space for daily morning routines such as brushing our teeth and showering, bathrooms have now transformed into spa like rooms that offer a retreat in the comfort of our own homes.

Here’s a look at the latest bathroom trends that offer a fresh, new approach to design.

Wash away the stress

We can’t think of what is more relaxing than starting or ending your day under a soothing shower. Installing a larger shower, or a steam shower can elevate your shower into an extraordinary experience. Add to these extra features like a rainfall showerhead, a sleek handset or a massaging shower panel you can get the most out of your spa-style bathroom without having to leave.

Also, clean, open areas highlighted with freestanding tubs are a great focal point for a bathroom. Unlike with traditional tubs, you can place a freestanding tub just about anywhere allowing the homeowner to have more flexibility in the design. Today, freestanding tubs are available in a variety of designs that suit all needs without compromising on style. So why not wash away those cold winter blues and submerge yourself in the comfort and relaxation of your own tub.

Color Schemes

Choosing the right bathroom color scheme can revamp a bathroom instantly. For a classic or modern style you can’t go wrong in pairing a beautiful color with white. Over the years many colours have come and gone, however white has always been timeless in nature. Use white fixtures and fittings to create a clean, and fresh look, or set it against a bold coloured wall, a tiled wall, or backsplash to create visual drama. Regardless of whether your striving for a traditional, modern or a contemporary look white is always a great versatile colour scheme in bathroom design.

However, another great contender is gray. Equally popular, gray offers a sleek neutral look that is available in a range of shades and tones. It also complements a variety of other colors, making it easy to pair up with almost any other fixture in your bathroom.

De-clutter

While saving space isn’t really a new trend, practicality never goes out of style. Whenever possible, take advantage of every space available to maximize the functionality of your bathroom. Open shelving is still a popular trend that can also be quite practical in the bathroom. We think it’s a good idea to have some open shelving, but incorporating functional cabinetry that offers plenty of storage space is a great solution in minimizing clutter.
